The Importance of Marketplace Integration for Designer Brand Suppliers: Luxury Distribution’s Approach
In today’s fast-paced digital world, businesses are constantly looking for new ways to streamline their operations and reach more customers. One of the most effective solutions for designer brand suppliers is marketplace integration. Luxury Distribution, a leading supplier of premium designer brands, understands the power of marketplace integration and is dedicated to helping retailers and suppliers maximize their potential in the competitive fashion industry.
What is Marketplace Integration for Designer Brand Suppliers?
Marketplace integration for designer brand suppliers refers to the process of connecting a supplier’s inventory and order management systems with popular e-commerce platforms such as Amazon, eBay, or other niche fashion marketplaces. This integration allows suppliers to manage their products, pricing, and orders across multiple platforms from a centralized system, ensuring consistency and accuracy across all sales channels.
For designer brand suppliers like Luxury Distribution, marketplace integration simplifies the process of listing and selling products online, while also making it easier for retailers to access and sell premium products from top-tier brands.
Streamlined Inventory Management
One of the key benefits of marketplace integration for designer brand suppliers is efficient inventory management. Without integration, suppliers may struggle to keep track of stock levels, especially when selling across multiple platforms. Manual updates can lead to errors, stockouts, or overselling, which can negatively impact both the supplier and the retailer’s reputation.
By integrating with major marketplaces, Luxury Distribution ensures that inventory levels are updated in real-time, so retailers can always access the most accurate product availability. This reduces the risk of miscommunication and enhances the overall efficiency of the supply chain, making it easier for retailers to manage their product offerings and provide a seamless customer experience.
Increased Reach and Sales Potential
Marketplace integration for designer brand suppliers opens up new opportunities to expand your customer base. By connecting with multiple online marketplaces, suppliers like Luxury Distribution gain access to a global audience of potential customers. These platforms attract millions of visitors every day, many of whom are actively searching for high-quality designer items.
For designer brands, this integration allows them to capitalize on the existing traffic of these marketplaces while also providing the tools necessary to manage their online presence effectively. Retailers benefit by gaining access to a wider range of products from reputable designers, enhancing their own inventory with premium goods that customers desire. As a result, the potential for increased sales and visibility grows exponentially.
Conclusion
Marketplace integration for designer brand suppliers is essential in today’s digital retail environment. For Luxury Distribution, it represents an opportunity to enhance inventory management, increase sales, and offer a seamless experience for both retailers and customers. By embracing the power of marketplace integration, suppliers can scale their operations, reach new customers, and improve their competitive edge in the luxury fashion market. Whether you are a designer brand supplier or a retailer, integrating with popular marketplaces can unlock new opportunities and drive business growth in the fast-paced world of online commerce.

Choosing The Right Marketing Mix: Digital & Traditional Strategy
In today’s fast-paced digital age, businesses must choose between traditional marketing methods and digital strategies. Each approach has its own set of advantages and disadvantages, making the decision-making process more complex than ever before. In this blog, we’ll delve into the intricacies of traditional marketing versus digital marketing, helping you understand which strategy might be the best fit for your business.
Traditional marketing relies on methods that have been around for a long time and are widely recognized and trusted. Imagine flipping through a magazine and seeing eye-catching ads, or driving down the highway and noticing a huge billboard that grabs your attention. These offline strategies have stood the test of time because they feel real and dependable. They give people something tangible to see and experience, which goes a long way in building trust and making a lasting impression.
In the ever-changing world we live in, digital marketing has become a major force. It revolves around using algorithms and data to reach people online. Businesses leverage social media, optimize their websites to appear in search results, and run targeted ads to engage specific audiences. Digital marketing offers precision and speed, allowing businesses to track the performance of their campaigns in real-time. This dynamic approach enables companies to adapt quickly and effectively to market trends and consumer behaviors.
The best way to market a business today is to use both traditional and digital methods together. Digital marketing reaches lots of people and shows clear results. By combining both approaches, companies can create strong plans that work everywhere and easily adapt to changes. This mix helps reach more people and stay effective in a fast-changing world.
Digital Marketing:
Digital marketing is crucial for businesses because it helps them connect with customers online. Through tools like social media marketing & SEO companies can reach people where they spend a lot of time: on the Internet. Digital marketing lets companies advertise specific targeted audiences, track how well their ads are doing, and engage with customers directly. It’s an essential way for businesses to stay competitive and grow in today’s digital world. With digital marketing, companies can choose exactly who they want to talk to. Now everyone is active in the internet online world so we can promote our products and services digitally.
Also, digital marketing enables businesses to leverage various content formats such as blogs, videos, infographics, and podcasts to engage with their audience in more interactive and compelling ways. This diverse range of content allows companies to cater to different preferences and consumption habits, ensuring that their message resonates with a broader audience.
The Timeless Approach of Digital Marketing
Precision Targeting: Digital marketing excels in its ability to target specific demographics, interests, and behaviors with precision. Platforms like social media and Google Ads enable businesses to tailor their messages to highly segmented audiences, maximizing the efficiency of their marketing efforts.
Measurable Results: Using digital promotion for products and services can bring excellent outcomes. With digital marketing, marketers can keep an eye on important numbers in real time. This helps them quickly adjust and improve campaigns for better results. Digital platforms are flexible, allowing businesses to adapt fast to market changes and what customers prefer. By using digital marketing’s flexibility and responsiveness, companies can keep up with trends and make their marketing efforts better over time, leading to growth and success.
Interactivity and Engagement: Digital platforms have transformed marketing, enabling direct communication between brands and consumers. SEO enhances online visibility through optimized content and interactive elements like polls and quizzes. Social media engages with live streams and Q&A sessions, Google Ads targets traffic with interactive formats and remarketing. Integrating SEO, social media, and Google Ads amplifies their impact, creating meaningful interactions and driving brand growth.
Global Reach: In the world of marketing, which is often limited to specific regions, digital marketing has the potential to reach an international audience. Through online platforms and social media channels, businesses can connect with customers around the world, expanding their market reach exponentially.
Cost-Effectiveness: Digital marketing campaigns often offer a higher return on investment (ROI) compared to traditional methods, especially for startups, entrepreneurs & enterprises with limited budgets. With tools like advertising & digital marketing, businesses can reach large audiences at a fraction of the cost of traditional advertising channels.
Instant Feedback: Digital marketing allows businesses to gather immediate feedback from customers through comments, reviews, and social media interactions. This real-time feedback loop provides valuable insights into consumer preferences and allows businesses to adapt their marketing strategies accordingly.
Traditional Marketing:
Traditional marketing encompasses all the conventional methods of advertising and promotion that existed before the digital revolution. This includes print advertisements in newspapers and magazines, billboards, television and radio commercials, direct mail, and more. While traditional marketing techniques have been the cornerstone of advertising for decades, the rise of digital marketing has forced businesses to reassess their effectiveness in today’s landscape.
The Timeless Approach of Traditional Marketing:
Tangible Presence: Traditional marketing offers a physical presence that digital channels can’t replicate. Whether it’s a billboard on a busy highway or a well-designed brochure handed out at an event, traditional marketing materials provide a tangible connection with the audience.
Trust and Authority: A brand in a respected publication or on the radio can build trust and authority with consumers. Mixing Digital methods like graphic design, video ads, and print media with traditional marketing creates a well-rounded strategy. This not only grabs attention but also nurtures lasting trust and loyalty from customers.
Reaching Offline Audiences: Traditional marketing helps businesses reach these audiences, ensuring they connect with a wide range of potential customers. Even with the rise of digital marketing, some people still prefer offline methods. Long-standing businesses trust traditional marketing, while younger ones favor digital but still resort to traditional methods when needed.
Local Targeting: Traditional marketing methods like flyers, pamphlets, newspaper ads, and local radio spots are particularly effective for targeting specific geographic areas. Local businesses can use these methods to build a strong community presence and attract nearby customers effectively.
Brand Visibility: Traditional marketing channels such as billboards (Hoarding) and signage offer continuous visibility to passersby, helping to reinforce brand awareness over time. When it comes to choosing between indoor and outdoor marketing, think about what you’re offering and who you’re targeting. Both indoor and outdoor marketing help in business but it depends on your products and services.
Personal Touch: Face-to-face interactions at trade shows, events, and brand promotions not only create memorable experiences but also help trust and loyalty in a way that surpasses the digital realm. Moreover, the positive word-of-mouth generated from these interactions amplifies a brand’s credibility and extends its influence even further, solidifying its position in the market.
The Power of Integration:
Consistent Brand Experience: By integrating digital and traditional marketing efforts, businesses can ensure a consistent brand experience across all channels. This cohesive approach reinforces brand messaging and strengthens brand recall among consumers.
Expanded Reach: Combining digital and traditional channels enables businesses to reach a broader audience than they could with either approach alone. This multi-channel approach ensures that no potential customer goes unnoticed, maximizing the impact of marketing efforts.
Adaptability and Flexibility: In today’s rapidly evolving landscape, businesses need to be agile in their marketing strategies. By leveraging both digital and traditional channels, businesses can adapt to changing trends and consumer preferences more effectively, staying ahead of the curve.
Cross-Promotion Opportunities: Integrating digital and traditional marketing opens up opportunities for cross-promotion and synergy between channels. For example, a traditional print ad can drive traffic to a website or social media page, where customers can engage further with the brand and make purchases online.
Brand Consistency: By maintaining a consistent brand message across both digital and traditional marketing, businesses can strengthen brand identity and recognition. Consistency builds trust and credibility with customers, regardless of how they interact with the brand.
Accessibility and Inclusivity: Digital marketing, like optimizing websites for accessibility and mobile use, helps businesses reach and engage diverse audiences, including those with disabilities or limited access to traditional ads.
Conclusion:
In today’s marketing landscape, the marriage of digital and traditional strategies isn’t just beneficial—it’s essential. Traditional methods offer tangible presence and local targeting, while digital platforms provide global reach and cost-effectiveness. By integrating both approaches, businesses create a balanced strategy that maximizes reach, engagement, and impact. It’s not about choosing one over the other; it’s about harnessing the synergy between them to drive success in a dynamic marketplace.
By folding both worlds, businesses start on a journey of versatility and adaptability. It’s not a question of either/or but rather a celebration of both—and the magic that happens when they intertwine. Combining digital and traditional methods helps businesses reach new markets, build stronger connections, and achieve lasting success in a changing world. So, let’s raise our batons to the power of integration, orchestrating a symphony of growth, innovation, and prosperity.

Therian quadrobics popular for children in Finland; two schools ban animal masks
[This article was originally posted on the main blog for Otherkin News, on DreamWidth: https://otherkinnews.dreamwidth.org/94635.html Orion Scribner @frameacloud wrote it on September 14, 2024.]
In Finland, between May and September, newspapers published many articles on therianthropes. The papers are Iltalehti (Evening Newspaper), Ilta-Sanomat (The Evening News), Yle (Finnish Broadcasting Company), and MTV Uutiset (Commercial Television News, no relationship to the MTV channel in America).
These articles show a hobby popularized among children and teens on the social media app TikTok, where therians exercise on all fours (quadrobics), imitating animal movements. With practice, they can jump high and land on their hands, and other challenging feats. Therian quadrobicists hand-make and wear a certain style of upper-face animal masks to express themselves and protect their privacy on the informal video-sharing app. Some other common accessories are a tail made of yarn or fur, fastened to their belt. Some wear sneakers painted to look like paws, or take their shoes off while exercising. They practice making animal vocalizations. The therianthrope community is multi-generational and has existed since 1994, but this set of practices– quadrobics and masks– are a new development among the youngest generation of therians. While some of these young self-described therians say that being an animal is an integral part of who they are, some others firmly say they don’t, and simply enjoy it as a creative hobby, which is another difference from previous generations of therians.
Therian children who express themselves in these ways have been becoming visible in some schools in Finland. Although this hasn’t been a big problem, school officials have started setting boundaries about it to make sure that class won’t be disrupted by students wearing masks or making animal noises. Students need to wear shoes outdoors and take them off inside the school, which means that kids who take off their shoes to play outside will track mud onto the floors, and dirty other children's socks. Before this school year started, the principals of the schools in the cities of Oulu and Joensuu sent messages to parents banning students from these behaviors in class, along with other sorts of costumes and toys. This brought public attention to therians. In the past couple of weeks, the newspapers followed up on that by interviewing teen therians, parents, public figures, locals, and child welfare experts. Aside from a few opinion pieces and some reasonable concerns, nearly all of these express a positive attitude toward therians and give accurate information about what they are. This shows that young quadrobicists have been successful at building a good image for therians, because parents and others who work with children like it when kids do crafts and play outside together.
I don’t know Finnish, so I’m having to access these articles with the help of machine translation. That’s not a proper translation. One challenge I’m aware of is that Finnish doesn’t have the words he or she, so the machine translation alternates between them arbitrarily, with no clue of what would be correct for that person in English. In the following annotated bibliography of the articles, I’ll do my best to figure out a probably correct translation of their titles and give a summary, but be aware that nuances may be confused or lost.
Finnish news articles from earlier this year, before the ban:
Maria Aarnio (May 29, 2024). “‘Käsite oli meille aikuisille aivan uusi’ – millainen ilmiö on nuorten keskuudessa suosittu therian?” (‘The concept was completely new to us adults’ – what kind of therian fad is popular among young people?) MTV Uutiset.https://www.mtvuutiset.fi/artikkeli/kasite-oli-meille-aikuisille-aivan-uusi-millainen-ilmio-on-nuorten-keskuudessa-suosittu-therian/8941648#gs.e0lnr6 Archived September 7, 2024: https://web.archive.org/web/20240907063037/https://www.mtvuutiset.fi/artikkeli/kasite-oli-meille-aikuisille-aivan-uusi-millainen-ilmio-on-nuorten-keskuudessa-suosittu-therian/8941648#gs.e0lnr6
This describes therianthropy and quadrobics, and what parents need to know if their children are interested in them. The article also mentions the word otherhearted.
Samppa Rautio (June 16, 2024; republished on September 5, 2024 in response to the therian ban in schools). “Karhuna ihmiskehossa.” (A bear in a human body.) Ilta-Sanomat.https://www.is.fi/kotimaa/art-2000010677056.html Archived September 10, 2024: https://web.archive.org/web/20240910233804/https://www.is.fi/kotimaa/art-2000010677056.html
This is an interview with a bear therian, age 34. Although the article shows many photos of this person, all have a bear mask on, and it changes the bear’s name to Karoliina for privacy reasons. The bear accurately summarizes many features of therianthropy. The article has remarks about therians from Rasmus Mannerström, Senior Lecturer in Social Psychology at the University of Helsinki, and Michael Bond, author of Fans: A Journey into the Psychology of Belonging. The article also cites a survey of therian mental health, run by Helen Clegg, Rosalyn M Collings, and Elizabeth C Roxburgh. In 2019, the piece by Clegg et al had been published as “Therianthropy: wellbeing, schizotypy, and autism in individuals who self-identify as non-human.” I think it might be partly thanks to this bear and this thoughtful journalist that the later news coverage of therians was well informed and positive.
Finnish news articles from after the ban, in chronological order:
Maija Kansanen (August 20, 2024). “Lapset puhuvat kouluissa kieltä, jota aikuisen voi olla vaikea ymmärtää – Tässä ovat tämän hetken trendit.” (Children speak language in schools that can be difficult for an adult to understand – Here are the trends of the moment.) Helsingen Sanomat.https://www.hs.fi/suomi/art-2000010633508.html Archived September 7, 2024: https://web.archive.org/web/20240907102344/https://www.hs.fi/suomi/art-2000010633508.html
The other articles say this is the first article that reported the ban. The article itself is behind a paywall.
Emilia Saukkonen (August 21, 2024). “Therian-maskit pannaan: Karsikon koulussa oppilaat eivät saa enää käyttää naamioita.” (Therian masks are banned: Students at Karsikko School are no longer allowed to wear masks.) Yle. https://yle.fi/a/74-20106426 Archived September 11, 2024: https://web.archive.org/web/20240911004645/https://yle.fi/a/74-20106426
This article talks about the ban at the school in Oulu. It also summarizes the earlier article that interviewed the bear therian. The school principal says that youth fads come and go, and has no opinion of it as being good or bad. The school can make an exception to the ban if the student welfare staff decides it's important to a child's psychological health.
Jussi Korhonen (September 3, 2024). "Lehdet: Lapset ovat alkaneet identifioitua eläimiksi – Kouluissa aloitettu toimet." (Magazines: Children have started to identify as animals – Actions started in schools.) Iltalehti.https://www.iltalehti.fi/kotimaa/a/1674616c-7c65-4c9f-a56b-810197927309 Archived September 9, 2024: https://web.archive.org/web/20240909091227/https://www.iltalehti.fi/kotimaa/a/1674616c-7c65-4c9f-a56b-810197927309
This talks about the ban at both schools.
Jessica Helaskoski and Catherine Kähkönen (September 3, 2024). “Joensuulaiskoulu kielsi eläimiksi identifioituvien lasten naamiot – therian-ilmiö aiheuttanut ongelmia myös muissa kouluissa.” MTV Uutiset.https://www.mtvuutiset.fi/artikkeli/joensuulaiskoulu-kielsi-elaimiksi-identifioituvien-lasten-naamiot-therian-ilmio-aiheuttanut-ongelmia-myos-muissa-kouluissa/9000934
This talks about the ban at both schools. The school in Joenssu explained that their reason for the ban is that they need to be able to tell who's who, and anyone could be behind an animal mask, so those can't be allowed in class or at recess. The school in Oulu said that their own reason for the ban was that children had brought their play behavior in from recess and misbehaved in class. However, in all these articles about the ban in the Oulu school, it looks unclear to me whether they mean that this had really happened at their own school, or if they had only heard that it was happening at other schools in general.
Samppa Rautio (September 3, 2024). “Oululaiskoulu kieltää therianit – rehtori sai tarpeekseen: ‘Tunnillakin konttaillaan ja mau’utaan.’” (Oulu school bans therians – the principal had enough: ‘Even in class they growl and meow.’) Ilta-Sanomat.https://www.is.fi/perhe/art-2000010670861.html Archived September 9, 2024: https://web.archive.org/web/20240909102458/https://www.is.fi/perhe/art-2000010670861.html
Riku Isokoski (September 4, 2024). “Hämmentävä ilmiö voimistuu lasten keskuudessa – Asiantuntija kertoo, miksi he matkivat eläimiä.” (Confusing phenomenon intensification among children – Expert explains why they mimic animals.) Kaisa Önlen from the Mannerheim League for Child Welfare explains that therianthropy is deeper than a hobby, so will turn out to be a permanent part of the identity for some teens, whereas for some teens, it’s just something they’re trying out for fun. Children need to be allowed to experiment and play to discover who they are in the world.
Jasmin Levo (September 4, 2024). “Näkökulma: Kuinka pitkälle opettajien pitää vielä venyä? Therian-ilmiö on vain jäävuorenhuippu.” (Viewpoint: How far do teachers need to go? The therian phenomenon is just a tip to the iceberg.) An opinion article about how children who want to make animal noises in class are only one of many sorts of disruptive behavior in children’s classrooms, comparing this with cell phone use.
Samppa Rautio (September 4, 2024). “Nyt puhuu therianin äiti.” (Now talking to therian's mother.) Ilta-Sanomat.https://www.is.fi/perhe/art-2000010674287.html Archived September 11, 2024: https://web.archive.org/web/20240911041011/https://www.is.fi/perhe/art-2000010674287.html
An interview with a mother about how the ban saddened her child to the point of asking to switch to a nearby school where it wasn’t banned. That mother saw the therian children have a healthy and positive experience together. She was concerned that the schools limit children’s freedom of expression too much, and might start banning nonconformist fashion styles too, such as goths. In contrast, another mother supported the ban. She had seen that her own child’s curiosity about therians had led to places on the internet that weren’t appropriate for children. The child had encountered an adult online with sexual content, and had planned to go to an adult therian meet-up. The mother grounded her child from social media. Her child had also gotten very sore from practicing quadrobics, but not injured.

In the capital city Helsinki, the craft store Sirpa Saviluoto talks about therian animal masks. The store started selling them less than a year ago. The owner hadn't heard of therians before then, but has been learning from parents. Most buyers are primary school children. The store only sells blank masks, not ready-made ones or tails. The owner believes it's important for children to do crafts and make their masks and tails for themselves. The ban brought publicity and now the masks are selling faster than they can keep them in stock.

This article interviews several TV celebrities on what they think parents should do if their children say they are therians. These opinions are not well informed about what therians are. They tend toward conjecture about bizarre and unlikely scenarios that haven’t happened.

At a certain café in Helsinki, the figures on the restroom signs have animal ears. The CEO explained that the signs have been like this for a long time. It's part of their branding. Despite rumors, it’s not a reference to the recently fashionable hobby.

The Ombudsman for Children, Elina Pekkarinen, looks at the hostile attitudes that adults have toward therian children. The Ombudsman explains that adults are often annoyed and scandalized by youth and youth fads, because adults want children to conform. She is disgusted at adults who have left comments on the internet saying that the children should be hunted like animals. It’s these adults who she calls strange, because it's terrible for adults to talk about children that way. She describes the therian hobby with approval.

The newspaper asked the officials of schools in different parts of Finland to find out if therian hobbyists were really so widespread as believed. TTRPGs that are played specifically through the framework of the Discord app? I'm reviewing a work in progress game that's being set up to work like that and I wanted to know if there are others!
THEME: Discord RPGS
Hello there friend, I know you mentioned This Discord Has Ghosts In It in another ask, but I’m going to mention it anyways - along with some other awesome options that exist out there!
This Discord Has Ghosts In It, by Will Jobst.
You’ve been invited to a haunted house. That haunted house is a Discord server.
Find your greatest fear, spill your worst secrets, and get to the thrilling seance in This Discord Has Ghosts in It.
I played this game for Halloween one year and it was great! In this game there are two roles: investigators and ghosts. All of the players will hang out in a voice chat, but only investigators can speak. Meanwhile, ghosts are the only ones who can type inside the game channels - and they are allowed to add new rooms to the house, upload pictures, and alter the text.
I definitely encourage players to use Lines, Veils, and the X card for this game, as it’s a horror game and you’re often met with images, not just descriptions.
MUDSLURP, by Will Uhl.
MUDSLURP (Multi-User Discord Server Lore-Universe Role Play) is a roleplaying game about asynchronous communication, intersecting storylines, and carrying a piece of your characters with you in everyday life. Everyone involved controls at least one character and participates in a shared text chatroom integrated into a fictional setting.
MUDSLURP is also compatible with other tabletop RPGs - bring a new dimension to your story with a chatroom for all your characters! Host server events, build out the world, and learn more about each other. MUDSLURP even supports multiple tabletop campaigns sharing the same chatroom, including guidelines for avoiding & resolving canon disputes.
This is something that really intrigues me, as I run a Discord server myself and I’m always looking for options that incorporate more people and give people multiple ways to interact. Since this is compatible with other tabletop games, I’m assuming you can have real-time sessions alongside something more like a play-by-post format - although I haven’t bought the game yet so I can’t say for sure.
Tournament Arc, by SystemxEmotion.
Tournament Arc is a text-based, real-time, head-to-head, fighting roleplaying game. Most importantly, Tournament Arc is a game where you create any character you can think of (or steal from your favourite media), and fight your friends.
When you play Tournament Arc, you will create a powerful fighter and you’ll try and beat other fighters in arena combat. Fighters can be anything you can fathom, from talented martial artists to alien creatures from other dimensions, and from off-duty superheroes to ordinary people granted arcane powers by elder beings. The one thing that they all have in common is that their powers come from spirits. Spirits are strange entities that recently appeared in the world, and are as diverse as the fighters themselves.
As a text-based game, Tournament Arc depends on a third, neutral party for each battle. This third player is called the Conduit, who will judge both attacks and determine an outcome. I can see this being a great game for large groups, especially because each person gets to pick up the GM role at some point. You create move sets using different abilities that might be active or passive, and the book comes with advice on how to make the combat dynamic and interesting. If you are playing with a group that likes feeling powerful and enjoys big action scenes, this might be the game for you!
Eccentric Millionaire, by nickwedig.
Somewhere in the wilderness, an eccentric millionaire has buried $50 million worth of bearer bonds, gold, historic artifacts and art treasures.
You’re going to hunt for it, from the comfort of your own homes.
There are a lot of other people also searching for the treasure, too. Work with them for more clues, but don’t trust them. If they get the treasure first, they get millions of dollars. Second place gets nothing.
Eccentric Millionaire is an online game of logical deduction and social deception. One player acts as the host and organizer of the game. They will also play the role of the Eccentric Millionaire. The other players take on the role of treasure hunters. The game is played online, through chat systems like Discord or Slack, and via online map tools like Google Maps. Gameplay takes place over days or weeks, as the treasure hunters uncover more clues and zero in on the location of the treasure. Eventually, one player will find the treasure and win the game.
I love games that use innovative online tools, and this game's use of Google Maps is a great example. This is also great for large groups, of up to 25 people! I caution you though, the organization for a game like this definitely requires a lot of set up - you might have to customize a Discord Server before you are ready to play.

If I'm being honest I do think certain people in the community tend to be waaay too hard on the big sims youtubers. Like, I understand some people's criticisms, because they ARE influencers, but some of you treat them like they're peddling toxic diet gummies to 4 year olds, and not just like... being a little too enthusiastic about an expansion pack trailer? I think the the overstatement of harm is a little insane, actually.
Like at the end of the day EA is a multi million dollar company that has all the resources it needs to make the most amazing life sim game ever, but chooses to milk ts4 like a cash cow and is all too happy to take loyal fans' money for literally nothing in return.
Simtubers, no matter how popular, are self employed people who rely on the game to make a living for themselves (and often times for their families as well). People always go on about their "lack of integrity" but like, they're not gaming news channels? They are not official video game review companies? They are people who make sims lets plays and speed builds on youtube. Whether you think their videos are a reliable means to determine the quality of a pack is completely your own choice and a matter of your own taste and opinion.
(also most of them are a lot more critical of the game then most people give them credit for, but lets be honest, most of the people complaining about them have never actually watched them)

@kiokijin @sirbonesly @anonmousegosqueak! The transportation system! It's literally integrated in the plot to be relevant at MINIMUM in the second and third act of the first book (the thing I said about domestic terrorism my or may not actually happen, but I really like the idea of something created by the government that is against it in the worst of ways without having to hit civilians) and it doesn't have to be super in-depth because how many people do you know that nerds on transportation systems (escluding me obviously, if you are interested there is a youtube channel calle NotJustBikes that is where my most knowledge comes from)? No? OK, your social circle is normal. Basically in still indecisive between suspended rails (look futuristic but aren't efficient and distract quite a lot) and underground rails (realistic, more cost effective, actually provides cover if you are trying to hide, can me made multi-level to add an extra layer of complexity and efficiency) so… I guess it shows where I want to go. It looks almost completly like a modern transportation system, it doesnt make sense to make it that much faster than what we already have but it can be extensive and can have some cool features like wagon separation (basically it is divided in half and at a certain stop one half goes in one direction and one half goes to the other, it is particularly good for the suburbs of the city if you don't have a lot of people but making them wait half an hour between public transportation would be a little too cruel🫠 (I see you Padua and your waiting times)
Also you can consider that all cars are automatized and constantly communicating via satellite connection (so if all the cars know where everyone is, it is easier to avoid accidents) but this also adds the idea that you can be tracked every time you use a car😎👈😎👈 (i know, it's an incredible obstacle)
Also there are obviously busses and other types of transportation, but it's basically a monopoly of the producers, who have ma5ching designs so all the cars and busses 1)March and 2) are aesthetically pleasing on the streets. Obviously the car manufacturer is government approved (like 95% of the public stuff available)
Opinions? Ideas? Improvements? Next topic?
☝️☝️☝️
I don't know what else to say, this is amazing on its own and I feel like anything I'd add would just make it worse. 。:゚(;´∩`;)゚:。
May I suggest -mostly because I never see it in any type of dystopia and I'm curious- what about pets?
You might be like "wtf Mouse, what do you mean?" And to that I say "my brain is scrambled like bacon, let me have this"
So going back to other dystopias, I feel like it's just never mentioned. I'm not exactly mad, I understand, but I'm curious about your world. I mean usually the utopia with the happy people walking dogs or the dystopian leaders with small scruffy dogs (I have a small dog and will not be getting into the small dog debate right now).
Is it one of those things that just isn't on the table (aka no one has pets and it's not normal or whatever)? Is it a privilege?
Again, it doesn't usually come up so consider this your certified "mouse's difficult question for world building"™
You don't have to answer, either way I'll still love your writing!

tier list of rust std modules let's go

Rationale below the break
S
clone: It’s so important. You gotta be able to clone data around, and you gotta be able to restrict that ability. Crucial
collections: I use this every-fucking-where. Gotta have my HashSet, gotta have by BTreeMap. You know it
future: Love writing futures, love constraining futures, love all of that. And I gotta have that Future trait.
iter: Literally #1 - fucking love my iterations, wish I could write literally everything as an Iterator
option: Option is so fundamental. So many helper methods on it as well, beautiful functionality
ptr: If you’ve ever written complex ffi bindings or collections replacements, you know what I mean. The documentation is phenomenal and only getting better, the provenance projects are making it even even better.
result: Same rationale as option
sync: Arc my beloved. Also channels, mutexes, RwLocks, Atomics, etc, are all so important. Can’t do anything in multi-threaded code without using at least one of them.
vec: We all love Vec. I don’t think I need to explain myself.
A
alloc: Pretty cool and good, would love to see the allocator API stablized and then this would easily be an S tier
array: Manipulating arrays is very nice and good and useful, I just don’t don’t do it enough to put this in S
boxed: Love Box! Really nice and useful. Not something you’ll use in your every-day rust app, though, you only start using it once you’re really getting into the weeds or interacting with futures outside of async/await
cell: Very important to a lot of underlying abstractions in Rust, but just not something most people will really ever use (at least in my experience)
cmp: Useful utilities. Love the way they’re integrated with the langauge operators. V cool.
convert: Also useful! Love my (Try)?(From|Into)
default: Useful sometimes, but I feel like it’s abused occasionally. Also not a fan of seeing Default::default() where someone could’ve used the type name
fs: Gotta interact with a filesystem. Just feel like most rust apps spend most of their time not interacting with a filesystem.
marker: Very important, but most people won’t be interacting with these again.
mem: Love these, very useful, but mostly only useful for specific scenarios.
ops: Hugely important as well, obviously, but most people won’t ever actually manually access this module.
slice: Love manipulating slices - getting chunks, windows
B
borrow: Love Cow, but the whole Borrow vs AsRef thing still confuses me. I understand how they’re different, but I don’t quite understand the historical and tehcnical reasons for it, and feel like there could’ve been a better solution found to avoid this.
arch: Cool and such, but rarely used and a lot of the coolest stuff (portable simd) is still experimental and I rely on it a lot for performance reasons and really want it to stabilize soon.
error: std::error::Error. Woohoo
fmt: Nifty and such. It’s just kinda boring in comparison to all the other cool language features that exist in the standard library.
io: Cool, I guess. I just rarely every use it directly, I guess. And I am also kinda annoyed that AsyncRead and AsyncWrite aren’t things but also I think that the Async variants of traits could be avoided if people wrote more libraries in the sans-io style, so idk
panic: Mmm. I’m glad that the language provides a way for you to clean up during a panic, but I am personally really annoyed that panics are, in the end, recoverable. Irks me.
path: Path and PathBuf woohoo. Also tho such a pity that this module has to be a lot more complex due to windows backwards path separator bullshit. ugh
rc: Rc. Woohoo. I don’t like Rc much personally, I’ve written a lot of code in Rust and I’ve yet to encounter a scenario where I think “This situation could be solved or even helped by an Rc!”. But I understand its uses I guess.
str and String: Useful, yeah, but I’ll always be a bit pissed that they didn’t call them String and StringBuf instead (like they did with Path and PathBuf). Causes way too much confusion to early-on rust users
task: Useful, but I don’t get why they aren’t in future instead. Like, I guess they are used for streams and such, but still.
time: Fine… I guess it’s useful for people to be able to measure elapsed durations for logging and such and easy benchmarking but I just have a natural, deep-seated fear of any computer code that tries to interact with time as a concept so I’m very leery of this.
C
any: Mmmmmm I know it’s useful but I kinda hate that dyn Any is a thing you can do. It should (hopefully) become somewhat less prevalent now that trait upcasting is stabilized, though.
env: Used to be higher, but the whole ‘Linux makes no guarantees about accessing the environment from multiple threads’ thing irks me. I know it’s not Rust’s fault, but I’m still punishing them for it.
ffi: Confuses me that there’s so much duplication between this and os::raw - don’t like it. I know it doesn’t really matter which one you use, but whatever.
hash: Rarely actually interact with it directly. I know that it has to exist to facilitate (Hash|BTree)(Map|Set) but I don’t know what other use it has
net: Nearly all the time that I want to interact with stuff like TcpStream, I would rather use some async-specific net structs, such as are found in tokio.
num: Useful and cool, but I really think that this is seriously missing the traits from the num crate. There’s probably some specific reason why they don’t want to provide this, but the ability to reason around numeric attributes would be so useful.
os: OsStr and OsString suffer from the same sin as str vs String, but also are just inherently confusing due to the complexity that surrounds file paths in different OSes. I know that rust just surfaces all this complexity that hides beneath the surface but that doesn’t keep me from feeling like there was probably some better way to set up these structs
process: std::process::exit. woohoo
thread: Rarely do I spawn a thread manually - generally I want to use tokio or rayon or crossbeam or something like that. Good and useful, just rarely reached to and generally you’d be better off touching something else
D
backtrace: Good for one thing alone, which can be nice for quick and easy debugging, but if you just want a backtrace, a panic!() is easier, and if you can’t do that for whatever reason, you should probably just reach for a full debugger at that point
hint: Just like compiler fuckery. Love it, I do, but rarely do people interact with it, if ever, and really only useful for benchmarks and low-level atomic stuff (which, when I’ve done that, idk if I’ve even seen any sort of performance gains from spin_loop() sooo)
pin: Yes it’s important, but the constant struggle to make it not horrible to use for library developers really irks me. Still no way to (safely) match on pinned enums, no built-in pin projection without macros, etc. Ugh.
prelude: Yeah sure, whatever. You’ll never touch this.
primitive: This does need to exist, but if you’re reaching for this, you’ve fucked up. What are you doing.
F
ascii: I feel like this was a mistake. There are 4 things in it and 2 of them are deprecated. What are we doing.
char: Too many weird things here. Why does to_lowercase return an iterator? Why are these constants not in the primitive type instead? The whole escape stuff also feels arbitrary, and that’s part of the sin of the ascii mod.
f32 and f64: Everything here should be relegated to the primitive types. No need for these. Why are the integer types deprecated while this one isn’t? idk
(I also posted basically this exact same thing on my blog, june.cat, if that sort of thing interests you :))

Marketplace Integration for Luxury Suppliers: Elevating B2B Commerce
In the fast-evolving landscape of e-commerce, marketplace integration is becoming a pivotal strategy for luxury suppliers aiming to enhance their visibility and reach. As the demand for luxury goods continues to surge, businesses must adapt to an increasingly competitive environment by leveraging the potential of digital marketplaces. This article delves into the key factors that make marketplace integration crucial for luxury suppliers, exploring the unique advantages it offers and the impact it can have on their business operations.
Enhancing Visibility and Reach
One of the most compelling reasons for Marketplace integration for luxury suppliers is the enhanced visibility it offers. By listing their products on established marketplaces, suppliers gain access to a broader audience without the need for extensive marketing campaigns. Marketplaces have built-in traffic, with millions of users searching for premium products daily. This increased visibility can lead to higher sales volumes and brand recognition, especially for suppliers looking to enter new markets or demographics.
Streamlining Operations and Inventory Management
Another critical benefit of marketplace integration is the ability to streamline operations. Managing multiple sales channels can be complex, but integration simplifies this process by providing a centralized platform for inventory management, order processing, and customer service. Suppliers can automate their inventory updates, ensuring that stock levels are accurately reflected across all channels in real-time.
Data-Driven Insights and Analytics
The integration of marketplaces also empowers luxury suppliers with valuable data-driven insights. By analyzing customer behavior, sales trends, and inventory performance across multiple platforms, suppliers can make informed decisions that drive growth. These insights enable suppliers to identify which products resonate most with their audience, optimize pricing strategies, and tailor marketing efforts to specific customer segments.
Overcoming Challenges
While marketplace integration offers numerous benefits, luxury suppliers may face challenges in the process. Concerns about brand dilution, pricing consistency, and maintaining a unique brand identity are valid considerations. To mitigate these challenges, luxury suppliers should develop a comprehensive marketplace strategy that outlines clear guidelines for pricing, branding, and product presentation.

It happened so fast — just like that, a strange curse enveloped the world, stripping away the fairy tale life and intertwining it into a modern world. It altered the very course of everyone's lives and shrouded their memories in an unbreachable haze. There are no answers to sort through in its wake, 𝒏𝒐 𝒓𝒆𝒂𝒔𝒐𝒏 𝒕𝒐 𝒖𝒏𝒅𝒆𝒓𝒔𝒕𝒂𝒏𝒅, and, seemingly, no hope to rally behind. All they're certain of is that the language of Starfall City is 𝒔𝒊𝒏... What they don't know is how literal that is. Every soul is tied to a magicless realm by one of the seven deadly sins, leaving them all to wrestle with their own demons just as the city grapples with its own past. No one knows the trail they once led, only their belief in the one that they walk now. Will they seek atonement or are they intent on 𝒓𝒖𝒊𝒏𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏?

Writing A Wargame When The World's A Bastard
I think most people looking at an rpg blog are probably familiar with the "Wow! Cool Robot!" meme.
And I think to an extent all play consists of "Situations I Don't Actually Want To Be In But It's Fun To Imagine The Scenario." Even tag and hide and seek simulate escaping from a predator.
However, when I say Over War is both a wargame and a tabletop roleplaying game, I want to be a little more precise about which inspirations I'm drawing on.
Yasumi Matsuno is a name that Final Fantasy XIV players might recognize, but he has a much broader body of work with incredibly consistent themes.
Matsuno also directed and wrote Final Fantasy Tactics, designed directed and wrote Tactics Ogre, designed directed produced and wrote Vagrant Story, and created Ogre Battle, which lit a fire in my head as a child and eventually led to the creation of this game.
In a Yasumi Matsuno story, you can generally expect gothic vibes, a baroque aesthetic, and messy, multi-sided political choices that orbit around resentment, societal disenfranchisement, and a struggle for a better world.
Those themes and elements are what I'm trying to channel in Over War.
There's more than a few splashes of the usual Sprinting Owl ridiculousness (you can build a unit out of just chupacabras and goats in the uneasiest alliance any fantasy world has ever seen,) but the game centers around questions like "Should anyone ever deserve to rule a land?" and "What compromises on integrity and vengeance are you personally willing to make to achieve your goals?"
There's a sidebar at the beginning of the book making it clear that I am not trying to draw real-world parallels---I'm not smart enough to do that without messing it up---but I do want the players to think when the game hands them a thorny issue, and to reach a decision that they are ultimately comfortable with.
This is tricky to do in a game which ultimately also needs to be fun, it won't sell if it's not fun, but those are the compromises I'm making in the hopes that this game will bring enjoyment and disquiet to folks.
